Free first meeting · Principal architect reviews every stage · Designing since 2009

In Udaipur our interiors span private villas, hotel guest rooms and lobbies – including a full-size mock-up room built to test the Lemon Tree design before construction – and hospital interiors where durability and calm matter most.

Interiors are designed with the architecture: furniture, lighting, joinery and materials are chosen to suit the room’s light and use, and detailed by the same team that drew the building.

Homes, hotels and hospitals – three different briefs

A villa interior is about the family: the plan first, then ceilings and lighting, flooring, a kitchen designed around how it is used, joinery drawn to the millimetre, bathrooms, furniture and art. A hotel interior must meet the operator’s standards for the guest room, bathroom and public areas while giving the guest a reason to remember the stay – which is why we built a full-size mock-up room for the Lemon Tree hotel in Udaipur before construction. A hospital interior has to be durable, easy to clean and calm, with daylight where patients wait.

In each case the same team draws the building and its interiors, so proportions, daylight and materials are decided together.

Materials for Udaipur

Local stone, marble and lime plaster suit the city’s light and climate and are worked by craftsmen nearby; veneer and solid-wood joinery, brass detailing and bespoke lighting complete the palette. We choose for how a room will look in the evening as much as at noon, and for how it will age.

Interior-only projects start with a site visit and a brief, then plans, 3D views and a material board; our site engineers check the work on site and the principal architect reviews finishes before handover.

How an interior project runs

A site visit and a brief; then plans, 3D views and a material board; then detailed drawings for ceilings and lighting, kitchens, wardrobes and joinery, bathrooms, stone layouts and furniture, with a cost estimate before anything is ordered. Design usually takes six to ten weeks to approved drawings and the execution of a villa four to six months, depending on joinery and stone lead times.

We can work with your contractor or recommend teams we have worked with in Udaipur; either way our site engineers check the work against our drawings.
