Connected Courtyards

Residential project · Itarsi, MP

A villa in Itarsi organised around a chain of courtyards, so light, air and garden reach every room.

The brief

A contemporary family villa in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh, designed for privacy and comfort in a hot climate.

The idea

Connect the rooms through courtyards. The house wraps around open-to-sky spaces that bring in daylight and cross-ventilation and become the centre of family life.

Making it

White and dark volumes, large glazed openings onto the courtyards and landscaped lawns – best seen at dusk, when the courtyards glow from within.
