Box In Box

Residential project · Jodhpur

Boxes within boxes: a crisp white residence in Jodhpur where cantilevers, screens and terraces are carved from a simple form.

The brief

A family residence on a compact 3,100 sq ft plot in Jodhpur – 10,900 sq ft over several floors.

The idea

Start with a pure white volume and carve into it: smaller boxes push out as cantilevered rooms and balconies, while perforated screens filter the desert sun and give the façade depth.

Making it

Clean white surfaces, timber soffits and dark glazing keep the language disciplined; from above, the house reads as a precise composition of solids and terraces.
